Maths

At Diamond Hall Infant Academy we believe that Mathematics is an essential lifelong skill. We follow a mastery approach to mathematics with the belief that every child is capable of achieving with the appropriate teaching.

Our Mathematics is carefully planned for using Number sense and NCETM schemes of work to support teacher knowledge and planning and actively encourage reflection on learning, following a planning cycle of:

Assess- Learn-rehearse/retrieve-  play/apply- Assess

Our carefully structured curriculum aims to develop:

  • Learners who become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics through regular practice and application of skills.
  • Pupils that can reason mathematically.
  • Pupils that can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of problems with increasing complexity.
